      A muster role of the Third Regiment N.Y. State Artillery. The document reads “We the Subscribers do voluntarily enroll ourselves in the Company of the Said Regiment under the Command of William Swaim and do pledge Ourselves to obey him and others our Superior Officers to Conform to the Laws of the said State and the Bye Laws of the said Company”. The list contains three columns, for “Name”, “Residence”, and “Remarks”. A date is listed in the “Remarks” column. The first date listed is January 16, 1812 and the last date listed is March 23, 1814. The muster roll consists of two pages. The first page is large and is folded. The grant was entered in the Auditor’s Office on March 17, 1797, and is signed by Peter Russell, Auditor General. There is also a signature by William Jarvis.

Some material concerning Canadian Wineries Ltd. is also included. The Town of Thorold purchased land from Canadian Wineries on behalf of the Thorold Horticultural Society. This land was to be used as a park. An unidentified group photograph is also included.

      A Ticket of Location granting Elizabeth Haines of Louth Township, U.E. Loyalist, 200 acres of land in Garafraxa Township, Halton County, District of Gore. The document notes that the grant is “subject to the settling Duties required by the Order in Council of the 20th of October, 1818, of Five Acres cleared and fences, along the length of the front adjacent to the road, for every Hundred Acres granted; a Dwelling-house, of sixteen feet by twenty in the clear, and one half of the Road cleared in front and rear of each Lot; the whole to be performed within two years from the date hereof”. The document is dated November 23, 1821 and is signed by Thomas Ridout, Surveyor General. A note beneath the signature reads “the settlement duty performed as attested…” and is dated March 1823.

      Fonds consists of correspondence; a letter copy book describing an 1817 voyage from Newbern, North Carolina, to Charleston, South Carolina; bills; receipts; invoices; and wills. The financial records such as bills, invoices and receipts record the personal and business activities of Thomas Tileston Sr., who had a business as a house builder. The correspondence, letter copy book, and wills belonged to Thomas Tileston Jr. and document his activities. Some of the letters refer to events from the War of 1812.
