dc.description.abstract | A certificate discharging Levi Sawyer from Captain William Wilson’s company of the Corps of Artillery, United States, after five years of service. A physical description of Sawyer is included in order to “prevent any improper use that might be made of this discharge”. Sawyer is described as five feet, five inches high; dark complexion; blue eyes; dark hair; thirty-three years of age; born in Massachusetts; and by occupation a Physician. The certificate is dated at Fort Johnston, N.C., November 14, 1816, and is signed by Wm. Wilson. A red armorial seal is located in the lower left corner. | en_US |
