Abstract
Fonds consists of material acquired by Guy St. Denis while researching a book on Sir Isaac Brock’s portraits. All the material are photocopies. Most of the material is correspondence, with some news clippings, programs, and news releases. Much of the material concerns Captain M.H.T. Mellish, Isaac Brock’s great-great-great nephew. There is correspondence between S.E. Weir (founder of Riverbrink Museum in Queenston) and Captain Mellish concerning a watercolour portrait of Isaac Brock; correspondence between the Royal Trust Company and Captain Mellish concerning the opening of a branch in St. Catharines, a tomahawk owned by Tecumseh in Mellish’s possession, and Mellish’s appearance at the opening of the St. Catharines branch; correspondence between Captain Mellish and the British Museum concerning the identity of the artist who created the portrait of Isaac Brock owned by Captain Mellish; and correspondence between Captain Mellish and James A. Gibson, president of Brock University.Collections
