Abstract

A letter from Ethelwyn Wetherald to Mr. Page, 10 November 1931. The letter reads: "Dear Mr. Page, - In returning your play I want to tell you of the sincere enjoyment I had in reading it. You have a keen sense of dramatic values and every scene is impressively pictured to the reader's eye. I shall be glad indeed to receive a copy when you have found a publisher. That reminds me! I have been looking forward to sending you and dear Elsie a copy of my new book, with your names & mind on the fly leaf. So please don't spoil my scheme by purchasing a copy. There are a few errors in print but only one that really jarred - that is being spoken of as 'poetess', a word I have always disliked. Would so much prefer to be called a writer. The photograph is a flattered representation of my appearance in 1896! Before 'this [illegible] and blundering century' began. In your play Naomi is particularly well imagined. The part where she tells the prodigal that he & his brother are [illegible] loved by their father as his two eyes or two hands, is a poem in itself.
