A letter from Ethelwyn Wetherald to Mr. Page, 4 August 1930: The letter reads: "Dear Mr. Page - Your kind letter should have been answered weeks ago, but I delayed in the hope of seeing you in July. A good talk is so much more satisfactory than any correspondence. However, Mrs. Dalrymple, who called here a few days ago, told us your holiday was over and you had returned to New Dundee. I am so sorry to miss seeing you & your family, but I am sure with all the friends you have about here, that your time was fully occupied. I was much interest to hear that you are busily engaged on a piece of literary work in which, I hope, you will win real success. Publishers seem to be getting very cautious & conservative now a days. Mclelland and Stewart of Toronto promised (verbally) to bring out my "Complete Poems" this coming Fall; but a few days later they declined for the reason that 'this is a bad year to bring out poetry'. I wonder when a 'good year' will come. But there is no doubt that as Emerson says 'there is a solution for every problem & the soul's highest duty is to be of good cheer'. My Californian brother is here for the summer. Rather frail & rheumatic, but the rest of us are well. Dorothy is at home during the hot weather, but expects to return to Hamilton next month. Our affectionate regards to you all from Ethelwyn Wetherald."en_US
