dc.description1. Instructions to a Deputy Post Master in Canada Upon His Appointment. “Queenston” is written in as the place of employment. The booklet is loosely sewn together. Additional instructions are pasted after the third leaf and on the inside of the back wrapper. This copy is signed and annotated by T. A. Stayner who was the Deputy Postmaster General of British North America. The paper belonged to Alexander Hamilton “A. Hamilton Esq.” is handwritten in the upper right corner, n.d. 2. A contract for transporting His Majesty’s Mails issued to Job Chubbock of Queenston, Ontario. This is signed and annotated by Alexander Hamilton, Post Master. The amount of 140 pounds is to be paid quarterly to Chubbock. Chubbock’s duties are outlined in detail as well as the fines to be levied to him on dereliction of his duties. There is a watermark of an oval with a woman in a chariot holding a trident and a flower. The paper is signed by Job Chubbock and Alexander Hamilton, March 13, 1833 3. A Courier’s Oath broadside which was issued by T.A. Stayner, Deputy Postmaster General, British North America. It was sent from the General Post Office at Quebec to Thomas Kennedy. It is signed by Thomas Kennedy and Alexander Hamilton, Postmaster for Niagara. The document states that Kennedy is to convey His Majesty’s Mails of letters between St. Catharines and Niagara. The coat of arms of British North America is at the top of the page. It is signed by Thomas Kennedy and Alexander Hamilton, Dec. 9, 1835 4. A broadsheet sworn and signed at Queenston by Malcolm Laing, J.P. and Alexander Hamilton, Post Master. The Post Office at [Queenston?] in account with the General Post Office at Quebec. The cash transmitted is 91.42 ½ pounds. There is a watermark of an oval with a woman in a chariot holding a trident and a flower, Aug. 11, 1835en_US
