Abstract
Contains a brief article mentioning Hull’s surrender to the British under
Gen. Isaac Brock at Detroit. It is stated that Colonel Duane, in speaking of Hull’s surrender, says
“Such disasters were to be calculated upon, and must be still calculated upon, unless the
measures for conducting the war assume a new character”. Also contains a proclamation by
Isaac Brock, dated 16 August 1812, where it is stated that “the territory of Michigan was this
day, by capitulation, ceded to the arms of his Britannic majesty…”. Volumes of interest were published in 1812 with articles about the War of 1812.
