dc.description.abstract | Russian-Mennonite immigrants of the 1920's, an interview with Gerhard Braun, July 15, 1976. This interview is conducted in low German and discusses the following: biographical information, Sanitatsdienst, service in the White Army, landed Mennonites and Germans in Russia, anti-German activities, pacifism, conversation with a Mr. Janzen from Sagradowka, leaving Russia, collapse of White Army, post-revolutionary conditions, early years in Canada, conditions in Russia, emigration, early years in Canada, Kanadier toward immigrants, farming, church, interviewer's comments. The interviewer is Henry Paetkau. The accompanying notes are attached. Side 2 of the tape is a continuation from tape #4 of an interview with Henry Goertz.
